Our kayaking trip: it was a foggy morning on CT river as we set out for the Baye ponds.  On our way, we passed Mitch's Island shrouded in mist, another of our projects. We saw Great Blue Heron, common merganser, and a water plant we could not identify.

Mercy House volunteers joined staff of the Silvio O. Conte Wildlife Refuge and members of the Valley Land Fund Board to clean-up the Baye Parcel on the Northampton Meadows.  They were a godsend, not only filling a dumpster but having it overflowing!  The land was being prepared to be an addition to the Refuge for wildlife habitat and migratory birds.  The two ponds and frontage on both the Connecticut River and old Mill River basin makes it ideal for wildlife.  Three cheers for a job well done!

It was a gray day on the Meadows with showers keeping the birds low and in the foiliage.  We saw some sparrows and finches.  Ah, but the view was worth the wet.

It was an incredible fall day for a hike.  Not too hot, not too cold, everything was just right!  And as you can see, the reward was a spectacular view of our Valley.

Our November hike through Mount Warner had great conversations and great views.  Pete Schoenberger led over 30 participants through forests, fields, and an old orchard.  It was as splendid day to walk off that extra piece of pumpkin pie!
